Maurice Bourrel
Maurice Bourrel graduated from University of Pau (France) and holds a Master degree in Physics, and a French State Doctorate (PhD.). He joined Total… long time ago and has worked for 45 years in research, mostly in Surface and Colloid Science, for problems regarding oil production and treatment: Flow performance, emulsion separation, chemical EOR… Maurice holds numerous patents and has published more than 100 papers. He is the co-author with Bob Schechter of a book on Microemulsions and Related Systems. M. Bourrel is currently consultant for Total in Physical-Chemistry |

Daniel Merino Garcia
Daniel Merino-Garcia earned a PhD degree from the Technical University of Denmark, in the field of asphaltene characterization. He collaborated for several years with the Research Centre of ENI (Italy) in asphaltene and wax characterization and modelling. He is working since 2007 in Repsol, mostly in the Upstream Technology Centre of Repsol (Spain), as a senior technologist, but also in the Technology Hub in Rio de Janeiro; he is specialized in Fluid Characterization and Flow Assurance. Over the last years, he has participated in the definition of the Flow Assurance strategy for the main fields under development in Repsol, as well as the R&D projects of Repsol in Flow Assurance and Fluid Characterization.

Nicoletta PanaritiNicoletta Panariti is currently in charge of Commercial Development of Technology Licensing in Eni. She joined Eni in 1990 and since then she has been active in R&D activities on many petroleum-related subjects. She has authored more than 50 paper and conference publications on these topics and she is also co-inventor of more than 20 patents, most of them related to EST-Eni Slurry Technology. In the last fifteen years Nicoletta has been in charge of EST Development Project as well as of several R&D projects in the field of conversion and upgrading of petroleum residues and heavy oils.

Ryan Patrick Rodgers
Ryan P. Rodgers received a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Florida in 1995, and Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from Florida State University (Alan G. Marshall) in 1999. Following a postdoctoral appointment in aerosol mass spectrometry at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (J. Michael Ramsey), he rejoined the Ion Cyclotron Resonance Program at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL) in 2001 as an Assistant Scholar-Scientist and a courtesy faculty member of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Florida State University. He currently directs environmental, petrochemical and forensic applications of FT-ICR mass spectrometry at NHMFL, is the Associate Director of the FT-ICR MS User Facility, Director of the Future Fuels Institute, and Associate Editor of Energy and Fuels.

Harvey YarrantonHarvey Yarranton is a Professor of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at the University of Calgary and is the NSERC Industrial Research Chair in Heavy Oil Properties and Processing. He received his B.Sc. (1985) and Ph.D. (1997) degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta. Between degrees, he worked for Dome Petroleum Ltd. and Amoco Canada Ltd. in reservoir, production, and operations engineering. His research interests include the phase behavior and properties of heavy oils and solvents, the fundamentals and treatment of water-in-oil emulsions, and oil sands extraction and froth treatment.
